The End Of The F***ing World season 2 will arrive on Netflix “more than a year” after Channel 4 debut

The End Of The F***ing World season 2 was announced last month, to much fanfare, with the show’s writer Charlie Covell signing up stars Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden for another series of low-enthusiasm criminal adventures. Channel 4 will hold onto the exclusive rights to broadcast this new season, for over a year, before allowing Netflix to stream it.

This is fairly common practice, of course, but it does mean that the show’s fans will have to sit through adverts – and weekly gaps between episodes – if they want to watch The End Of The F***ing World season 2 as early as possible.

The first season of The End Of The F***ing World debuted its first episode on Channel 4, before plonking the whole series onto All 4 as a box set. Then, three months later, the show popped up on Netflix and earned heaps of new fans.

Channel 4’s content boss, Ian Katz, wants Channel 4 to hold onto the show for a bit longer this time. Here’s what Katz said to Deadline on the matter:

“Next time we’ll run the whole series on the channel then there will be a conventional hold back of more than a year before people see it on Netflix. It really bugs me that people think that show is a Netflix show, I really want to reclaim ownership of it, it’s absolutely a Channel 4 show.”

We’ll bring you news on The End Of The F***ing World season 2 as we hear it.
