Westworld: HBO has officially ordered season 3

Just in case it was ever in doubt, here’s the confirmation: HBO has officially ordered Westworld season 3, securing the future of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s highly watchable and endlessly discussion-worthy sci-fi series.

This news comes just two weeks into the broadcast of Westworld season 2, which shows just how much confidence HBO has in this show and its pair of talented creators.

HBO chief Casey Bloys said this in a statement:

“It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew. From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us.”

It’s hard to predict exactly when the Westworld season 3 premiere date will land. Westworld season 1 launched in October 2016, but Westworld season 2 debuted in April 2018. Here’s hoping that, since this renewal has come so early, there won’t need to be such a big gap between seasons next time around.

We would expect the Westworld season 3 episode count to remain at 10 episodes, matching the length of both previous seasons. At this stage, we have no clue what the Westworld season 3 story will revolve around specifically, given that there are still eight episodes to go of season 2.

We’ll bring you more Westworld news as and when we hear it.
