Cozy Crime Catchup — November 2025

Welcome to the Cultbox Cozy Crime Catchup for November 2025 — we talk Art Detectives, Irish Blood, Miss Scarlet, Professor T and A Remarkable Place to Die

Since our previous look at some of the cozy crime shows we don’t always get to, there’s been plenty of news. We’ve covered shows like Return to Paradise and Shaekespeare & Hathaway elsewhere, now we take a quick look at a few others. We’ll take them in alphabetical order.

Art Detectives

Recently arrived on UKTV (and available to stream via U), is Acorn TV’s Art Detectives, centred around the Heritage Crime Unit, a police department consisting of art-loving DI Mick Palmer (Stephen Moyer) and straight-talking DC Shazia Malik (Nina Singh). Together, they solve murders connected to the world of art and antiques, from Old Master paintings to Banksy street art, medieval manuscripts and collectible vinyl. The cast also includes Sarah Alexander and Larry Lamb.

We did mention it in September’s catchup, but as it arrived at the very end of October, we felt it worth a reminder as you may yet to have to the chance to watch.

AMC has announced Acorn TV has renewed Alicia Silverstone crime drama Irish Blood has been renewed for a second season. At present, UK viewers need an Acorn TV subscription to watch, but we suspect the show will come to UKTV at some stage. The announcement came after the first series became Acorn TV’s #1 series of all time for both viewers and subscriber acquisition. We look forward to giving it a watch.

Miss Scarlet

A Masterpiece PBS show, we have some first look pictures of series 6 (in the UK we only have series 1-3 available for free via UKTV). You can see the images in this Deadline piece. The show stars Kate Phillips as a Victorian era private detective. Other members of Miss Scarlet‘s returning cast include Tom Durant-Pritchard as DI Alexander Blake, Cathy Belton as Ivy, Paul Bazely as Clarence, Simon Ludders as Mr. Potts, Tim Chipping as Detective Phelps, and Ansu Kabia as Moses.

The only one of this month’s shows on ITV, this is the disappointed news we won’t be getting series 4 until 2026. Despite this (and there’s no explanation), series 5 is already filming. This is one we are very keen to know more about — series 3 ended with several surprises and gave us Ben Miller’s best performances in the role so far.

A Remarkable Place to Die

The last entry is perhaps less cozy crime than police procedural. A New Zealand show (like The Brokenwood Mystereies), it’s a darker story of the returning outcast detective returning to her home town (a little Return to Paradise), with some stunning local scenery and plenty of dark secrets. It’s available on UKTV via U, and here’s the brief:

the show follows smart and determined homicide detective Anaís Mallory (Chelsie Preston Crawford, Underbelly) as she returns to her hometown of Queenstown, New Zealand, assuming the role of lead detective and hoping to unravel the truth behind the deaths of her father and sister. Mallory has a stellar policing career under way after a secondment to Sydney, but she is forced to confront her strained relationship with her mother (Rebecca Gibney, The Flying Doctors) and the ghosts of her past, including her ex-fiancé Luke (Charles Jazz Terrier, Wentworth), who is now married to her ex-best friend, Maja (Indiana Evans, Home and Away).

If you want a more edge than cozy, it’s highly recommended.
