Speaking to Zap2it at Comic-Con in San Diego over the weekend, Gillan revealed: “I am going to come back, yes. That’s the first time I’ve said that today!”

It was announced last month that Matt Smith will return for 14 new episodes as the Doctor, but Gillan’s involvement had not been previously confirmed. It is still unknown if Arthur Darvill will return as Rory Williams in the new episodes.

Series 6 Part 2 will begin airing at the end of next month, kicking off with Steven Moffat’s ‘Let’s Kill Hitler’.
