The thrill of the chase is a vital part of the most exciting pictures Hollywood can make and they’re rightfully lapped up by film buffs. Well, car fanatics rejoice, as there’s still an exciting stream of films on the way for your viewing pleasure doing just that. With more and more advanced special effects and impressive props being introduced all the time the fun factor is only set to increase.
These films may not come in very handy when studying for your theory test, but they will certainly be compelling to watch, as stunt drivers and your favourite actors artfully do their thing on the big screen. It’s a spot of don’t-try-this-at-home escapism at its very best. Here’s what is coming up…
Jason Bourne
Having famously stated that he wouldn’t return as to the franchise unless director Paul Greengrass did the same, Matt Damon has kept his word after skipping starring in The Bourne Legacy, and is now BACK as everyone’s favourite spy Jason Bourne.
With his first choice of director back on board, you can bet that the new installment will be packed with all the elements of the previous films and so much more. Think fist fights that pack a powerful punch, car chases that make your heart pound and plenty of that trademark Jason Bourne attitude.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Batman vs. Superman is the film on everyone’s lips this year, as the two superpowers come head to head to prove to the world which kind of hero it really needs. But with that comes a new enemy which means that the two must set apart their differences and unite.
Starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg and Amy Adams, expect all the usual DC Comics goodness alongside the speedy supercars from Batman’s lair coming out to play. Those superheroes might just be matched by their supercars…
Triple 9
It’s going to be a good year for action films, and the star-studded Triple 9 is a much anticipated film on the list. Starring Casey Affleck, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul and Woody Harrelson, the plot follows the tale of a gang of criminals and corrupt cops who plan the murder of a police officer to pull off their biggest heist yet.
Of course this means pulling out all of the stops stunt-wise, featuring explosions, high speed chases and plenty of bullet-dodging along the way as the drama unfolds. All that plus plenty of plot twists and turns along the way to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Ride Along 2
If you’re looking for something a little more lighthearted alongside their car chase fix, enter Ride Along 2. This is a sequel to 2014’s installment of the same name and reunites Ice Cube and comedian Kevin Hart. The soon to be brothers-in-law drive to Miami to take down a prolific drug dealer.
With as many humorous moments as action-filled ones, the boys come into contact with some impressive fancy motors, the glamorous surroundings of the sunny Miami and even an awkward encounter with an alligator…
