5 of the funniest moments in ‘Merlin’

We recently took a tear-filled look at five of the most heart-breaking moments in BBC One’s Merlin and now we’re back to hopefully cheer you up with five of the fantasy drama’s funniest moments.

This was a considerably more difficult decision process than the first time around. With this show you’re either crying with laughter or crying in heartache and there isn’t much in between!

 

Merlin Colin Morgan

In fifth place, we have gone with the otherwise really spooky and sad episode, ‘A Herald of the New Age’. One of our heart-breaking moments also came from this episode, but following on from Arthur’s teary apology is an uplifting scene between Merlin and Arthur.

The show is renowned for its banter but this scene in which Merlin mocks Arthur is particularly note-worthy. What we want to know is, what happened off-scene after Merlin asked for that hug?

Coming up next is a scene from the first ever episode, ‘The Dragon’s Call’.

Merlin and Arthur certainly had a rocky start to their adventure which makes it all the funnier when Merlin finds out that their destiny is intertwined. Our fourth moment is the duel scene between the pair which is made up of trashing Camelot, secretive sorcery and some classic back and forth banter.

In third place it’s what we believe to be the funniest episode of the entire series; ‘Goblin’s Gold’. Whilst this whole episode is slap-your-thigh hilarious, one moment that stands out for us is when Gwen discovers the new and improved donkey! Arthur.

Not only does the Prince have adorable donkey ears, but he’s a regular old Eeyore. So, when he tries to strike up a conversation with Gwen, we are left in stitches. Bradley James’ facial expressions really make this moment what it is. We wonder how many takes that would have taken them!
