Hollywood swiftly responded to this demand and this game rise to anti-heroes such as Paul Newman, James Dean, and Marlon Brando. In later decades these actors were followed by Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Jack Nicholson, while Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, and Kim Novak were considered as the anti-heroines.
