Everyone’s favourite cosmic clobber returns! Clara’s wearing it this time and if you piece some of the other bits of the trailer together you can tell it’s from Episodes 5-6, ‘The Girl Who Died’ and ‘The Woman Who Lived’.
Fun facts: first appearing in 2006’s ‘The Impossible Planet’ and ‘The Satan Pit’, the orange spacesuit has so far appeared in seven episodes of Doctor Who, during which time eight characters have worn one. You win a new set of regenerations if you can name them all.
‘Stand and deliv-Arya!’
Removing a mask and tricorn hat, it looks like Maisie Williams is dressed as a highway robber. Very Blackadder. She’ll be shooting squirrels out of the tree next.
With the Doctor’s reaction to her cheeky greeting of ‘What took you so long, old man?’, the Game of Thrones star is now Doctor Who fans’ favourite new mystery. Move aside, River and Clara. Who is Arya Stark playing?
All we know about her is that she’s got a surprising connection to the Doctor (join the queue behind Susan, River Song, Jenny, Clara, etc.) and in Peter Capaldi’s own words she “shifts in cosmic ways”. Tying together the tiny bits of information about her and the episodes she’s in – ‘The Girl Who Died’ and ‘The Woman Who Lived’ – and that there’s Vikings and spacesuits involved, gives us no clues.
Are we dealing with a time-traveller? The Doctor’s grand-daughter Susan? His old travelling chum Romana? Someone time-splintered soul like Clara was? Is she – prepare to groan – The Rani!? C’mon, eventually it’s got to be The Rani…
