Let’s just say that this seems a very long shot to us. For a long time, Death In Paradise star Kris Marshall was the running favourite to replace Peter Capaldi in Doctor Who. As we now know, Jodie Whittaker has landed the role, and will take over the TARDIS from the end of this year’s Christmas special.
The Sun, never the most reliable source when it comes to Doctor Who rumours, is nonetheless reporting that Marshall is now in line to become Whittaker’s companion when Doctor Who series 11 gets going. It describes him as the “main contender”, and also suggests that Matt Lucas’ Nardole may still be in the mix (although by that stage in the report, it seemed to be nothing but wild speculation).
It sounds like standard tabloid rumour rubbish to us, but figured you may want to hear about it. An announcement on who Whittaker’s companion will be isn’t expected for some time yet.
