In the same week that he announced a nationwide tour, Peter Kay has now also confirmed that he’s bringing his hit show Car Share back. Previously, he’d said that the show had run its course, and he had no plans for more episodes after the second series finished.
Now? He’s changed his mind.
Two brand new special episodes are in the offing, and Kay himself has said that “we were completely overwhelmed by the response and even though we’ve no plans to write a third series we knew we couldn’t end the story there”.
Ahead of a final episode that will round the series off, another episode called Car Share: Unscripted will be put together, that’ll be entirely improvised. That’ll make up the two new episodes of the show.
To clarify, as per the press statement, “the finale episode will conclude a repeat of the second series and reveal just what happens next to John & Kayleigh. Car Share: Unscripted will feature Peter and Sian improvising as John and Kayleigh and the entire episode will feature what was filmed whilst driving around with no script”.
Both episodes are set to screen in 2018.
