The star of Scream and Yes Day plays Wednesday Addams in Tim Burton’s upcoming Netflix series.
Another show that feels like it’s been a long time coming has just revealed a first look trailer.
Following the story of Wednesday Addams, the daughter of Morticia and Gomez, Wednesday will see the teenager head to college. While that’s enough to have us watching already, pile on the fact that the series is being directed by Tim Burton, and our anticipation is riding high.
“Netflix Woefully Presents”
Here’s the premise for the series:
The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
The show comes from Al Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville) whose pitch apparently wowed Netflix with its fresh take. You can read more about the series here.
In addition to Jenna Ortega, the show’s cast includes Riki Lindhome as Dr. Valerie Kinbott, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin and Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems.
Additionally, we know that Catherine Zeta-Jones will appear as Morticia with Luis Guzmán as Gomez and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. Plus, it was announced in March that former movie Wednesday Christina Ricci will play a regular role in the show too.
While there’s still no suggestion of a date, the eagle-eyed reporters at Collider recently confirmed an autumn release for the show. As we said some time ago, you’d be mad to bet against Halloween.
We’ll keep you posted.
