The show is a nail-biting and deeply disturbing crime-thriller/horror mash-up.
The BBC have dropped a trailer for the forthcoming WOLF, a six-part drama based on Mo Hayder’s acclaimed novels.
With a cast led by Ukweli Roach as DI Jack Caffery, the show comes from Hartswood Films (Sherlock) and APC Studios (The Light In The Hall).
Here’s how the BBC describe WOLF:
DI Jack Caffery is a young detective beset by nightmares. Obsessed with the neighbour he believes murdered his 10 year-old brother in the 90s, Jack finds himself trying to right the wrongs of others – but at what cost?
In an isolated house in Monmouthshire, the wealthy Anchor-Ferrers family find themselves the victims of a psychopath’s cruel games, trapped and terrorised. When the two narratives collide, it’s a thrilling, nail-biting and deeply disturbing race against time.
Ukweli Roach is joined by Sacha Dhawan as Honey and Iwan Rheon as Molina, two mismatched professionals forced together on a job, and Sian Reese-Williams as DI Lincoln, a woman with a case to prove.
Plus, there’s Juliet Stevenson and Owen Teale as Matilda and Oliver Anchor-Ferrers, a couple who find themselves at the centre of a siege with their daughter Lucia, played by Annes Elwy.
WOLF
To be honest, we’re not quite sure what to make of the trailer. It looks intense, gory and like indecently good fun, if well-deserving of the warning of upsetting scenes.
We’re particularly looking forward to a pair of big performances from Sacha Dhawan and Iwan Rheon.
Written and adapted by Megan Gallagher (Suspicion), WOLF runs to six hour-long episodes. It’s produced by Hartswood Films and APC Studios, in association with Creative Wales. The directors are Kristoffer Nyholm (The Killing) and Lee Haven Jones (The Long Call). The executive producers are Elaine Cameron (Hartswood Films), Laurent Boissel (APC Studios), Megan Gallagher, Kristoffer Nyholm and Rebecca Ferguson (BBC).
WOLF is coming soon to BBC One, BBC One Wales and iPlayer. We’ll keep you posted.
