The series will return, but we’re not sure in what form.
Netflix has confirmed the renewal of it lavish sci-fi adaptation 3 Body Problem.
The show, based on the trilogy of novels by Cixin Liu, will be back for more – although the streamer has not been forthcoming on quite how many we can expect. Stopping short of calling the recommission a season, the announcement merely confirms “additional episodes” to conclude the story.
The series is created, executive produced and written by David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo.
The trio say:
“We’re thrilled that we get to tell this story through to its epic conclusion. Ever since we read the last page of Cixin Liu’s magnificent trilogy, we hoped we’d be able to bring the audience to the end of the universe with us. Here we go!”
3 Body Problem tells the story of humanity’s first contact with an alien civilization. It follows a young woman, whose fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unflinching detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.
The show’s first eight-episode season landed in March with a cast including Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Benedict Wong and Jonathan Pryce.
