The untitled comedy will be about a Hollywood Studio trying to find the balance between art and commerce.
After what’s described as a competitive bidding situation, Apple TV+ have reportedly landed Seth Rogen’s latest project. The show, a comedy to be co-written, directed and executive produced by the star has been commissioned straight to series.
While details are scant as yet – we’ve learned the news from Deadline – the series will be about a Hollywood movie studio who are struggling to survive in a world where it is increasingly difficult for art and commerce to live together.
The show’s writers are Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Veep‘s Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory. Rogen and Goldberg are directing, while Huych and Gregory are showrunners. It’s being made by Rogen, Goldberg & James Weaver’s Point Grey Pictures (The Boys, Pam & Tommy) and Lionsgate.
As a behind-the-scenes of Hollywood show, the television touchpoints might include series like Entourage, The Larry Sanders Show and Episodes. However, with the seismic shifts brought about streaming and social media in the past few years, there’s surely plenty that is new to satirise.
We’ll keep you posted.
