Arrested Development star David Cross has been chatting on the Late Night with Seth Meyers podcast and he doubts there’s a future to the popular sitcom…
After the fifth season premiered to less than positive reviews and a messy press tour marred by Jeffrey Tambor’s sexual harassment allegations from Transparent and Jessica Walter admitting the actor verbally abused her in the past, it was difficult to imagine Netflix producing more episodes anyway.
Cross said, “I’ve learned to say ‘never say never’, but I can’t see it happening again, I think for a number of reasons.”
The actor didn’t elaborate but the stars aren’t exactly aligning in the series’ favour, with additional confusion over Portia de Rossi’s green-screened appearance in season 5 and Cross’ own racism allegations.
As for when the remainder of the show’s fifth season will be released, Cross said, “I believe at the beginning of the new year that they’ll show the next 8, as I understand it.”
Arrested Development‘s fifth season will air next year.
