The cult 90s cartoon is being revived by the Nacelle Company.
Thanks to Deadline, we’ve learned that Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), with his company Maximum Effort, are joining the new version of a classic 90s animation. Biker Mice from Mars is getting a new lease of life, thanks to Nacelle Company and Fubo.
In case you’re not familiar with Biker Mice from Mars, here’s the set up:
The story follows three motorbike loving anthropomorphic mice, the only survivors of their race.
Escaping the destruction of their civilisation by the Plutarkians, a race of foul-smelling, fish-like humanoids who strip other planets for their natural resources, the trio flee to Earth. Crash-landing in Chicago, they team up with mechanic Charlene “Charley” Davidson to defend our planet and defeat the Plutarkians so they can return home to Mars.
The revival comes 27 years after the original series, created by Rick Ungar, aired its final episode. Since picking up the rights, Nacelle have begun rolling out new action figures based on the characters too.
The pilot episode’s director is Brian Volk-Weiss. He also executive produces alongside Cisco Henson, Matt Kravitsky and Michael Goodman for Nacelle Company. Maximum Effort’s George Dewey, Kevin Hill, Patrick Gooing and Ryan Reynolds also serve as executive producers, alongside Fubo’s David Gandler and Pamela Duckworth.
Biker Mice from Mars will be the first animated series on Reynolds’ Maximum Effort Channel.
Ryan Reynolds said:
“Some people know that I am a motorcycle enthusiast, so it was only natural for us to jump on board Biker Mice from Mars. Maximum Effort and Fubo look forward to putting a new spin on this cult classic with our friends at Nacelle.”
