Bridgerton rules the latest Nielsen Top 10 for original streaming — no real surprise except how far ahead it actually is

Last week we saw Bridgerton top the Nielsen chart for the weekend of release. The latest figures give us a full week’s data and the show (both seasons together) is a long, long way ahead as you can see below. Our prediction was:

Bridgerton will stay top for a few weeks, and we imagine it could break the three billion barrier. Netflix own data suggests a top 3 of Bridgerton, Is It Cake? and Inventing Anna with the chart also bringing Pieces of Her and Last Kingdom into play. Moon Knight was released and it will be interesting to see if it appears…

It’s easy to forecast when you have a good sense of the data (thanks to Netflix own Top 10 site), but that doesn’t stop us feeling rather smug!

The Nielsen data for March 28 – April 3 2022

Usual reminders — this is US only and a few weeks ago, we add columns marked ‘*’.

Bridgerton rules the Top 10

We wondered if it would break the three billion minutes barrier, and were right to. With numbers in the territory of Ozark season 4 part 1 (and part 2 is out today!) this now brings a two week total of close to five and three-quarter billion minutes. Elsewere, netflix has also revealed Bridgerton season 2 tops their Top 10 chart for every season released in the first 28 days, knocking Bridgerton season 1 into second place.

But what else happened?

Moon Knight
Moon Knight

We were pretty much there with out other predictions, and Moon Knight did make it in, though with numbers comparable to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on launch, around half the number scored by Hawkeye. None of this keeps any of those shows in contention for a season 2.

Nice, also, to see Seinfeld in the list, though we aren’t clear how it qualifies, nor why it would suddenly appear in the list as it’s an old series Netflix has had some time. If you know, do let us know in the comments.

What’s coming up next?

There’s no chance Bridgerton won’t take the #1 slot again net time, and the Netflix data for the week in question suggests we should look out for a range of new entries, possibly including Better Call Saul and Queen of the South. We suspect Mrs Maisel will finally leave the list and will be looking closely at Moon Knight.

Whatever happens, join us next week for our usual take on the numbers. See you then!
