What’s it about?
Adapted from Liz Jensen’s novel, The Rapture follows a story set against the backdrop of a town in turmoil during a heatwave. A psychologist meets a patient accused of killing her mother. The patent denies being guilty and the story delves deeper into her life, involving a father who leads a religious movement, potential psychic powers and a crime that makes less sense the deeper you go.

The confirmed cast includes Ruth Madeley (Doctor Who), India Amarteifio (Queen Charlotte), Sam Hazeldine (Slow Horses), Jack Farthing (Rain Dogs), Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones), Stephen Campbell Moore (The History Boys), Lisa Palfrey (Sex Education), Siena Kelly (Black Mirror), Naby Dakhli (House of David), Richard Elis (The Pact), Dean Rehman (The Kite Runner), Robert Rhodes (28 Years Later) and Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey).
Who’s behind it?
Bryony Kimmings (Last Christmas) and Rebecca Manley (Berlin Noir) are writing the series, with Eva Sigurđardóttir (Little Disasters) and Jennifer Perrott (Gentleman Jack) directing.
When’s it out?
Filming is currently taking place in Wales, with no release date announced as of yet. The series will be released on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
