Irish Language crime drama Crá gets a second series
BBC and TG4 confirmed they have commissioned a second series of the crime drama Crá. The announcement was made at the Belfast Media Festival on Wednesday 12 November. Filming will start on the six-part series in early 2026, on location in County Donegal. Returning and new cast members will be announced soon.
What is Cra
Among other things, it was the first Irish Language crime drama series to air on BBC One Northern Ireland, BBC iPlayer and BBC Four. The word itself means torment or anguish (the show is known as Boglands in the US, available via Acorn TV). Here’s the synopsis (from IMDB):
After fifteen years missing, police officer Conall Ó Súilleabháin’s murdered mother, Sabine, is found buried in a bog. Forbidden from investigating the crime, he has to join forces with a citizen-journalist to get justice for his mother.
The series starred Alex Murphy as Garda Barry Roache, Dónall Ó Héalai as Garda Conall Ó Súilleabháin, Hannah Brady as Ciara-Kate, Roisin Murphy as Annemarie, Barry McGovern as Art Ó Súilleabháin, Tara Breathnach as Cigire Patsy Sweeney, Caoimhe Farren as Ceannfort Sorcha Conlon, Alan Mahon as Bleachtaire Cathal Keogh, and Niall Mac Eachmharcaigh as Ray.
Until we get more news, you can watch series 1 now on iPlayer.
