St. Marie welcomes Don Gilet as DI Mervin Wilson in the Death in Paradise Christmas Special.
As the nights draw in and the weather becomes chilly, eyes turn towards warmer climes. Yes, it’s that time of year where we start to look forward to solving crime in exotic locations.
The drama begins this month with the launch of Death in Paradise‘s new Aussie sister show Return to Paradise.
Starring Anna Sampson as Paraverse’s first female lead, DI Mackenzie Clarke, the show begins a six-part run on Friday 22nd November at 8pm.

However, Mack is not the only new face. Ralf Little’s DI Neville Parker departed St. Marie at the end of the last series, leaving a vacancy. In the upcoming Christmas Special, Death in Paradise itself introduces a new detective who’ll leas the show’s fourteenth series.
Don Gilet plays DI Mervin Wilson who arrives on the idyllic isle of Saint Marie from his home in London. However, while assisting with a case following a short trip, the team discover Mervin may have an ulterior motive for being on the island…
Don Gilet says:
“I am delighted to have returned to the wonderful island of Guadeloupe and this time to be stepping into the well-worn shoes of the Detective Inspector. It’s been a real pleasure filming such a beloved series alongside the hardworking cast and crew. I can’t wait for the fans to see how DI Mervin Wilson fares on the island, how he fits within the Saint Marie police team and what secrets may unfold…”
Filming on the Christmas special and new series has wrapped in Guadeloupe. The regular cast of Don Warrington, Shantol Jackson, Ginny Holder, Élizabeth Bourgine and Danny John-Jules are all returning.
Additionally, a Christmas Special and a third series of the UK based spin-off Beyond Paradise are in the works too. Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton will return as DI Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd.
Death in Paradise is a Red Planet Pictures production for the BBC made with the support of the region of Guadeloupe.
We’ll keep you posted on all things Death in Paradise. In the meantime, the entire ‘Paraverse’ back catalogue is available on BBC iPlayer.
