Netflix has released the Death to 2020 official trailer, giving a good flavour of Charlie Brooker’s latest project
As we reported previously, Death to 2020 is:
a comedy event that tells the story of the dreadful year that was — and perhaps still is? This landmark documentary-style special weaves together some of the world’s most (fictitious) renowned voices with real-life archival footage spanning the past 12 months
The trailer starts with Samuel L Jackson, and we soon learn this is a story that can only be told now as 2020 is still happening! We then meet more of the cast, including Lisa Kudrow as a Republican politician so we are obviously getting the US election as well as Covid-19. Hugh Grant looks very learned in a library, Diane Morgan looks confused, and Tracey Ullman is convincing the Queen, and we strongly expect an update to the real annus horribilis. The best line (so far) is delivered by Leslie Jones:
“I’d say it was a cross between a train wreck and a sh*t show, but that would be unfair to trains and sh*t”
Death to 2020 arrives on Netflix on December 27. You can watch the Death to 2020 official trailer here.
