Lisa McGee, creator and head writer on the hilarious Derry Girls, has confirmed that the Northern Irish comedy series will return for a third series on Channel 4. Here’s everything you need to know…
McGee is quoted by BBC News as saying this: “I love writing this show and I’m so thrilled to be able to continue the Derry Girls story, thank you Channel 4, Erin and the eejits live to fight another day!”
The news that Derry Girls series 3 is on the way broke shortly after the series 2 finale, with Channel 4 posting this on Twitter…

Derry Girls first premiered in January 2018, and then returned for its second series in March 2019. Each series has had six episodes.
Using our top detective skills, then, we’d expect to see Derry Girls series 3 premiering in 2020 and consisting of six episodes.
