Blue Zoo Animation Studio has put its new Creative Director, Dominic Minns, in charge of its upcoming Doctor Who preschool animation series created for CBeebies, according to Televisual.

Minns will serve as Series Director of the unnamed children’s Doctor Who spin-off programme, currently in production.

A respected voice in the children’s television industry, Minns was Series Director of Supertato and directed the first season of Mojo Swoptops, both for CBeebies. He created the digital-first inter-generational brand Tee and Mo. He was Creative Lead on various other projects like Get Well Soon Hospital, Zingzillas, and Big and Small.

“Having worked within the Zoo family for several years, joining Blue Zoo as a Creative Director feels like a huge and exciting next step,” Dominic Minns said, as reported by Televisual. “I’m especially thrilled to be working on the CBeebies Doctor Who animation. My goal is to fully utilise the full talents of both Blue and Brighton Zoo to capture the epic scale and wonder of the series, while making it delightful, funny, and relatable for preschoolers. It’s an honour to be here.”

CBeebies is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the BBC, specifically targeted at children aged six years and under.

The new CBeebies Doctor Who animated series is currently in production for two series of 26 11-minute episodes to transmit in 2027/2028 and 2028/2029.
