Doctor Who finale will transmit simultaneously worldwide at 7pm BT

The The BBC has announced that Doctor Who Season Two finale, The Reality War, will premiere simultaneously as an “extra-special-length episode” on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, Disney+ in a “primetime evening slot” on Saturday 31 May.

Though the BBC has not yet announced the exact time, Disney+ has announced the time as “11am PT”, making the simultaneous transmission of The Reality War 2pm ET and 7pm BT.

In addition to the worldwide television transmission, fans across the UK and Ireland will have the opportunity to come together in cinemas to watch the two-part finale on 31 May, starting with the penultimate episode Wish World and ending with the last of the season The Reality War, The showtimes the theatres have given for this double-bill screening are all around 6pm or slightly earlier.

Doctor Who showrunner and writer of the two-part finale provided this synopsis:

“The Doctor is doomed, Belinda is lost, Ruby is trapped, UNIT is powerless, the Unholy Trinity rule supreme and the Underverse is rising. And now we can all experience this devastating climax together, all at the same time, with a unique worldwide premiere. I can promise shocks, scares and revelations off the scale. Come and have fun!”

Written by Russell T Davies and directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai, The Reality War transmits on Saturday 31 May at 7pm on BBC iPlayer and 7pm on BBC One in the UK. Those outside of the UK can stream The Reality War on Disney+ where available simultaneously starting at 2pm ET/11am PT.
