Doctor Who fans with long(ish) memories may recall that at Christmastime in 2009, you couldn’t escape David Tennant and his Tenth Doctor. The outgoing Time Lord was all over the BBC, even infiltrating the corporation’s festive idents between programmes.
Now, in the run up to the start of his three-episode 60th Anniversary run, the Doctor is at it again. First, he appeared on Children in Need night, and now he’s reading the bedtime story to the nation’s children.
The Way Back Home
The Fourteenth Doctor and his TARDIS will land in the CBeebies Bedtime Story universe on Friday 24th November. There, he will read The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffers to families across the UK.
The Way Back Home is a tale all about friendship, adventure and helping others. When a boy discovers an airplane in his closet, he does what any young adventurer would do: He flies it into space! Fortunately there’s friendship to be found, and what better way of finding your way back home, than by making a friend?
The CBeebies Bedtime Story is no stranger to Doctor Who; David Tennant has appeared three times before, John Barrowman has enjoyed four goes and Jodie Whittaker took her turn in 2018. Other celebrity readers have included Patrick Stewart, John Simm, Tom Hardy and Kate Winslet.
