Thanks to a recent discovery among canisters donated by the family of a film collector, there are now 95 missing episodes of Doctor Who instead of 97.
Two episodes from the 1965 Doctor Who series, The Daleks’ Master Plan, were turned over to Film is Fabulous!, a charitable trust created to find and preserve film.

According to Film is Fabulous!, there are only two members of their team with any potential knowledge of more episodes of Doctor Who existing in private collections.
“Film is Fabulous! do not have any other missing episodes of Doctor Who. We are not holding any missing episodes back to announce at the special screening on Saturday, 4th April 2026.”
“Film is Fabulous! do not discuss the details of elderly private collectors, or the films in their collections, with third parties. John Franklin and Prof. Justin Smith are the only members of the team who know the facts, and they will not disclose this information, even during interviews with the media.”

Producer/director Paul Vanezis, who has played a significant role in the recovery of lost episodes and has recently worked on the restoration of the 1996 Doctor Who film, apparently knows of at least two Doctor Who episodes, not yet recovered, that currently sit in the possession of a private collector.
The collector remains anonymous and the return of these two episodes is entirely up to their discretion. Vanezis confirms that the two episodes are not the same as the ones announced as returned on March 13.
When asked to “grade the chances of more missing episodes appearing with in say 2 years” from 1-10 with 10 high, Vanezis answered, “10.”

There also appear to be bits of Doctor Who episodes from the 1960s on another recovered film can:
16mm Doctor Who film still keeps turning up. A few days ago this was gifted to me by a long retired former editor on the series during the 1960s. Hopefully we will find out very soon what is on it. Looks like a mixture of different sequences as you can see the edits on each reel. pic.twitter.com/S0d0M6PAKj

This is at least somewhat promising and gives Doctor Who fans some hope of being able to see long-lost Doctor Who episodes once again. For younger and foreign fans, this is an intriguing chance to see previously-missing Doctor Who episodes for the first time.
