The Dune final trailer is here and the film arrives in less than a fortnight
While we’re sure CultBox visitors have already got their tickets booked for Dune, there’s a final trailer to enjoy as a timely reminder. The film itself arrives on October 21.
While Dune is a revered cult classic of the genre, and has been filmed before (and connected TV series have arrived), there’s always been a mythic status attached to the idea of a definitive screen version (much as there was before Peter Jackson tackled Lord of the Rings). In case you don’t know, it’s the film of the Frank Herbert novel of the same name, and story goes like this…
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence — a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential — only those who can conquer their fear will survive…
In fact the plot is far more intricate and the cast of characters for more compelling (and influential, with elements of Star Wars being traceable to the novel), but we suspect the story is reduced for filming. Even so there’s every sign this will be a success and build momentum on top of the recent arrival of No Time To Die.
You can see the Dune final trailer now, but don’t forget to book your tickets!
