First look at Lord of the Flies adaptation

The BBC has announced an adaptation of Lord of the Flies, alongside images of the cast filming on location in Malaysia.

The story of Lord of the Flies haunts many people’s childhoods, with the BBC announcing an TV adaptation of the classic novel and offering a first look at how this staple of literature is being adapted to the screen. Here’s what we know about it so far.

What will the adaptation cover?

The announcement from the BBC appears to promise comprehensive coverage on the story of the original novel by William Golding. The series is set to title each episode after each of the core characters of the story, following the tragedy from multiple perspectives.

Who’s in it?

The cast boasts lots of fresh talent. This includes Winston Sawyers (The Crow Girl), Lox Pratt (Harry Potter TV Series), David McKenna, Ike Talbut, Thomas Connor, Noah Fleymng, Cassius Fleymng, Cornelius Brandreth and Tom Page-Turner. A lot of the talent was found by casting legend Nina Gold (Conclave, Slow Horses, Game of Thrones, Baby Reindeer, This Is Going to Hurt).

Who’s behind it?

The series will be written by Jack Thorne (Adolescence) and directed by Marc Munden (National Treasure). It’s being produced alongside Eleven (Sex Education).

When’s it out?

No release date has been confirmed yet.
