Foundation season 1 comes to Apple TV this September and there’s an official trailer
The fate of an entire galaxy rests on the beliefs of Dr. Hari Seldon (Jared Harris). Will his conviction save humanity or doom it? Find out in Foundation season 1, September 24.
What is Foundation season 1?
Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, Foundation chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilisation amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. The novels were published as a series of short stories between 1942 – 50, and are amongst the most ‘classic’ of classic science fiction. They were re-collected as three novels: Foundation (1951); Foundation and Empire (1952) and Second Foundation (1953). In the 1980s, Asimov began a project to unify his Foundation, Robot and Caves of Steel story arcs into one over-arching epic. This spawned several books: Foundation’s Edge (1982) and Foundation and Earth (1986).
We suspect the first season (we predict several) will focus on the events of Foundation, perhaps dropping in some links for future seasons.
Who is in the series?
Foundation stars Jared Harris (The Expanse, The Crwon) as Dr. Hari Seldon; Lee Pace (Captain Marvel) as Brother Day; Lou Llobell as Gaal Dornick; Leah Harvey (Les Misérables) as Salvor Hardin; Laura Birn (Void) as Demerzel; Terrence Mann (Sense8) as Brother Dusk; Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn; and Alfred Enoch (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) as Raych.
The official trailer gives a sense of the original story, though with a lot more drama then in the short stories.
