The television adaptation of the popular video game needs a new home.

Thanks to a Deadline report, we hear that Halo has been cancelled by Paramount+. The show is based on the popular video game property of the same name.

The show, which debuted in 2022 and then recently dropped its second season, follows Master Chief. He’s a cybernetically enhanced super soldier seeking to protect humanity from an alien alliance in the 26th century.

Halo stars Pablo Schreiber (American Gods) as Master Chief, Spartan-117 with Natascha McElhone (Young Sherlock) as Dr. Halsey. The wider cast includes Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy and Danny Sapani.

Paramount Plus said:

“Paramount Plus can confirm that Halo will not move forward with a third season on the service.

“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work.

“We wish everyone the best going forward.”

However, fans might not need to despair just yet. Deadline indicates that makers Amblin Television, Xbox and 343 Industries are endeavouring to find a new home with another broadcaster or streamer.

We’ll keep you posted.
