It’s a bumper day of news for 13 Reasons Why fans, as Netflix makes two big announcements: we now know when season 3 will appear on our screens, and we also know season 4 is on the way.
Variety reports that third season of 13 Reasons Why will arrive on Netflix on 23 August.
Acccording to Variety’s report, “Season 3 will pick up eight months after the events of the previous season.” The central gang will “find ways to shoulder the burden of the cover-up together while helping Tyler (Devin Druid) move toward recovery.” The disappearance of a football, though, will raise some new problems.
From this same article, we’ve also learned that 13 Reasons Why season 4 has already been ordered by Netflix. This fourth run of the teen drama will apparently be the show’s last season. We don’t know the release date for that one yet, though.
Furthermore, it was also announced recently that Hannah’s suicide scene from the show’s first season has now been edited out of the show, with the sequence of events now cutting from Katherine Langford’s character looking at herself in the mirror to her parents finding her later. A Netflix spokesperson said that, “on the advice of medical experts, including Dr. Christine Moutier, Chief Medical Officer at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, we’ve decided with creator Brian Yorkey and the producers to edit the scene in which Hannah takes her own life from season one.”
We’ll keep bringing you 13 Reasons Why news as we hear it.
