The controller of BBC One has revealed that Poldark will return for a second season.
Charlotte Moore announced this week: “It’s been an outstanding start to the year for programme-makers on the channel and their ambition has been in evidence throughout … I can also exclusively announce that Sunday’s night new phenomenon Poldark that has captured the nations’ hearts has been commissioned for a second series.”
Poldark launched on BBC One in March and has averaged a consolidated total of 8.1 million viewers so far.

Season 2 will see Aidan Turner (Being Human, The Hobbit) will return as Ross Poldark alongside Eleanor Tomlinson as Demelza.
Written by Debbie Horsfield, the new season will again consist of 8 episodes and will cover the third and fourth books in author Winston Graham’s series.
Season 1 concludes at 9pm on Sunday 26 April on BBC One.
