Even though Chris Chibnall and ITV’s Broadchurch came to an end with its third and final series last year, that hasn’t stopped questions being asked about a possible return in the future. Chibnall, for one, has said he wanted to end the show after its third run, and he’s now overseeing Doctor Who. That’s going to be taking up his time for the next few years!
However, chatting to the Radio Times, Olivia Colman – who played DS Miller in the three series of the show – has confirmed she’d be interested in returning to Broadchurch in the future. When specifically asked if she’d return should, say, Chibnall return to the show in a decade, she affirmed “hell yes!”.
As for where the character of Miller would be by then? “She’d be massive. She’d be too old to have any more babies, but she would have enjoyed her cake and casserole, I reckon!”.
For Colman, her immediate work priority is The Crown season three, that she starts work on in earnest in the summer. As for Broadchurch? If it does ever come back, it’s going to be some way into the future…
