Written by John Fay (Torchwood) and directed by James Hawes (Doctor Who), the four-part mini-series is set in rural-industrial England in 1833.

Based on the historical archive of Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire, The Mill depicts the brutal early years of the Industrial Revolution at a time of nationwide upheaval as workers fought for sweeping changes in working conditions.

Kerrie Hayes will play the real life Esther Price, a feisty Liverpudlian who risks her own position to stand up for justice, alongside Matthew McNulty (Misfits) as Daniel Bate and Aidan McArdle as political firebrand John Doherty.
