The BBC, as promised, has released its list of its staff earning over £150,000 a year, and the top end of the chart is, as expected, very male-focused.
Chris Evans is the top paid member of BBC staff, pocketing somewhere between £2.2m and £2.25m a year. Gary Lineker is next, at around £1.75m per annum, with Graham Norton next at around £850,000.
In fourth is Jeremy Vine (c£700,000), then John Humphrys (c£600,000), Huw Edwards (c£550,000) and Steve Wright (c£500,000)
In all, 214 BBC employees earn more than £150,00 a year, and the highest paid woman at the corporation is Claudia Winkleman. She’s the eighth best-paid member of staff, with around £450,000 in annual pay (the same as One Show presenter Matt Baker). That puts her at the same level as BBC director general Tony Hall.
Hall has acknowledged the lack of diversity at the top end of the pay chart, noting there is “more to do”.
