Talent agency MacFarlane Chard Associates tweeted: “Delighted to announce that MCA’s PAUL MURPHY @paul_murfy will be directing Eps 3 and 6 of the new series of @bbcdoctorwho #doctorwho”

Paul Murphy has previously directed episodes of Waterloo Road, Trollied, Casualty, Brookside, Grange Hill and Hollyoaks.

It was announced last month that Sightseers director Ben Wheatley will helm Peter Capaldi’s first two episodes.

Series 8 begins filming at the end of next month and is expected to start airing on BBC One in August 2014.
