The Doctor Who star will take the part of narcissistic yuppie psychopath Patrick Bateman, alongside an ensemble cast which includes Jonathan Bailey (Broadchurch), Ben Aldridge, Charlie Anson, Katie Brayben, Cassandra Compton, Holly Dale Spencer and Susannah Fielding.

The character of Patrick Bateman was played by The Dark Knight star Christian Bale in the 2000 movie adaption.

Smith filmed his final scenes as the Eleventh Doctor in Cardiff at the weekend. The actor, who has played the part onscreen since 2010, will depart in this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special on BBC One on Wednesday 25 December.
