The next season of Poldark began filming earlier today.
A ten-part second season of the award-winning Cornish saga launched on BBC One last night.
The BBC announced the commission of Season 3 in July.
The Hobbit star Aidan Turner will reprise his role as Ross Poldark, alongside Eleanor Tomlinson as his wife Demelza.
The official synopsis for Season 3 reads: “1794: Ross must traverse new family, new loves and new battles, as the French revolution casts a shadow over life in Cornwall.”
Director Joss Agnew – who has previously directed episodes of Mr Selfridge, Casualty and The Sarah Jane Adventures – revealed the news on Twitter this morning.
The first season of Poldark began on BBC One in March 2015, peaking with 9.4 million viewers across TV and iPlayer.

Mammoth Screen Managing Director Damien Timmer commented earlier this year: “Winston Graham and Debbie Horsfield’s extraordinary flair for storytelling means the saga of Ross, his friends and enemies will go to even more thrilling places!”
Elizabeth Kilgarriff, Executive Producer for the BBC, added: “Series two promises to take the audience on another fantastic rollercoaster ride and we’re thrilled to know that the story won’t end there.”
Season 3 will air on BBC One in 2017.
