As Game of Thrones series 7 reaches a finale, one of its big stars will soon headline a big-budget dramatisation of the infamous conspiracy for the BBC.
Amid all of the hype for the Game of Thrones season 7 finale, the BBC made the shrewd move of releasing a teaser for Gunpowder, starring GoT’s Jon Snow, Kit Harington.
Cheekily tagged ‘Autumn is coming’ a tweet from the BBC gave us a brief glimpse of what to expect from the series, which will tell the story of Robert Catesby – one of the men behind the infamous 1605 ‘Gunpowder Plot’ to blow up the houses of parliament. So you can bet it will reach it’s climax somewhere around November 5th.
Harington will star in Gunpowder alongside none other than the quite wonderful Mark Gatiss (as spymaster Robert Cecil), Liv Tyler (Armaggedon, LotR, The Leftovers), Shaun Dooley (Broadchurch, Jamestown), David Bamber (Tina & Bobby, Pride & Prejudice) and Kevin Eldon (GoT, The Halcyon, lots of funny stuff). The part of Guy Fawkes – which, according to reports will not be as key to the whole affair as his high-profile name suggests – will be filled by Tom Cullen (Downton Abbey, Black Mirror) while Derek Riddell (The Missing, Happy Valley) will play King James.
If that all sounds as great to you as it does to us, you’ll probably want to take a look at that teaser. So here it is…

The BBC tell us the three-part series is ‘Coming Soon’. We don’t know exactly when, but if we were betting people, we’d be looking at October 19th, maybe?
