Finally, some signs that the hugely ambitious new BBC adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials is edging towards filming.
The somewhat massive undertaking is one of the projects on the slate of Bad Wolf Productions, the company that’s run by Jane Tranter and former Doctor Who producer Julie Gardner. They’ve been busy over the past few months making A Discovery Of Witches for Sky, the adaptation of Deborah Harkness’ book that’s set to premiere this autumn. Now, though, it’s announced that production has wrapped on that, and that attention is turning to His Dark Materials…
And that’s a wrap on #adiscoveryofwitches.
What an exciting adventure it’s been. We can’t wait for you all to see it in the Autumn.

His Dark Materials will hopefully go right where the film take on The Golden Compass went wrong. Jack Thorne has been working on the scripts for the series, and there have been hints that production would begin in Wales this year. It looks like those hints may have been on the money.
More as we get it.
