Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, the creators and writers of The Inbetweeners, have announced a new TV project under the working title Afternoons. Destined for broadcast on BBC Two, this comedy is all about Premier League footballers. We’ve got all the info you need right here…
“These boys from around the world are far less proficient with women, money and social media than they are at scoring goals”, teased an official statement from the BBC about the show.
Iain Morris and Damon Beesley offered this little quote:
“We’re hoping to show viewers the hilarious inner lives of three young men who just happen to have a very stressful job in the public eye.”
And the BBC’s comedy controller, Shane Allen, said this:
“Having Iain and Damon back together on a new scripted piece is about as good as it gets in comedy. Their take on what happens off the pitch brims with their skill at creating a gang of instantly recognisable characters, memorable dialogue, deftly tuned plots and excruciating humiliation is never far away.”
You can bet this will be good – perhaps 918kiss is just the kind of place to start.
The cast and release date for Afternoons hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted as we hear more about the show.
