Sohrab Noshirvani and Rory Haines, writers of BBC’s Informer drama, have confirmed that “Conversations have happened” pertaining to a second series.
“We have no idea”, Haines said, when asked directly by the Radio Times whether a second series will happen. “Definitely, conversations have happened, but we don’t know.”
Noshirvani said this elsewhere in the interview: “I will say that when we first came up with this story, we imagined it as more than one series.”
“[Gabe and Raza’s] relationship has always been the crux of the show for us,” he added. “It’s not necessarily about counter terror in that way… it’s not really about that, it’s about their relationship in the end.
“And so we’ve kind of just gotten them to a point in their relationship where it’s really getting really interesting for us, the power balances can really shift.”
Haines added: “Certainly for Raza it doesn’t feel for us like an end. He’s still a young man with lots ahead of him, who’s going to have to come to terms with a lot of this.”
Basically, it sounds like the writers would really like to do a second series, but the Beeb hasn’t officially signed off on it yet. As we hear more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
