The Gavin & Stacey star will be reprising his role of Craig Owens, first seen in Series 5’s ‘The Lodger’, in next weekend’s new episode.

Written by Gareth Roberts, ‘Closing Time’ sees the Doctor pay “a farewell visit to his old friend Craig”, where “people are going missing, a silver rat scuttles in the shadows of a department store, and somewhere close by the Cybermen are waiting”.

Speaking to CultBox recently, Darvill revealed: “I got to work with [James Corden] a little bit, he’s brilliant. He’s just hilarious, he’s amazing actually. Every take he’s just brilliant, he’s never there going ‘oh, can we do that again’, he’s just constantly on it.”

He added: “I’m really glad they brought him back. There’s a lot more that can be explored with his character.”

‘Closing Time’ airs at 7.10pm on Saturday 24th September on BBC One.
