David Tennant, who put in a stunning performance in the show as the villainous Kilgrave, has been chatting about the cancellation of Jessica Jones, and whether or not he’s in the yet-to-release third season…
Along with Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Punisher, Netflix has opted to cancel Jessica Jones. The received wisdom about this move is that the streaming service didn’t want to keep making Marvel shows, given that the Marvel-owners at Disney are launching their own rival streaming service featuring other Marvel characters.
Tennant, however, didn’t touch upon the corporate machinations behind the move. Speaking at a South by Southwest panel discussion for the Good Omens series, Tennant said this:
“I don’t really regard it as a cancellation so much as something having the life that it should have. Three seasons of that story is great. Rather than thinking of it as something that was canceled, I think of it as something that had three seasons that will live in the memory.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, Tennant also confirmed at this panel that he doesn’t play a part in the still-yet-to-be-released third season of Jessica Jones that Netflix had already produced before the cancellation.
We don’t know the release date yet for Jessica Jones season 3, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted as we hear more.
