Gillan will appear as an eccentric author with writer’s block, alongside fellow Scottish actor Emun Elliott (Game of Thrones, Paradox) as her publisher, ScreenDaily have revealed.
Directed by John McKay (Life on Mars, Robin Hood), production on the film is due to begin at the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012.
McKay commented: “We have two of the newest, hottest, sexiest pair of lead actors out of Scotland. Just right for the kind of quirky, romantic indie movie Not Another Happy Ending is set to be.”
The timing of the Not Another Happy Ending‘s production further adds to the mystery sounding when filming on the next series of Doctor Who will happen. Gillan confirmed at Comic-Con in San Diego last weekend that she will be returning as Amy Pond for Series 7, but no date has yet been given for when the 14 new episodes will be shot or when they will air.
The second half of Series 6, which completed filming last month, kicks off with Steven Moffat’s ‘Let’s Kill Hitler’ on Saturday 27th August.
