UPDATE: At last night’s BAFTA Television Awards, Line Of Duty co-star Martin Compston was asked about when filming was due to start on the show’s fifth series. He confirmed that the production would be heading back to Belfast, and that the new run of the show would start filming in September.
That’d tee it up nicely for a premiere in the first half of 2019. We’ll keep you posted on that.

The rightly-acclaimed Line Of Duty is already confirmed for a fifth series, and it’s also known that said fifth series is going to take a little longer to get to the screen. Writer and show creator Jed Mercurio is expected to shoot the new series later this year, with a view of getting it on the BBC One schedules in 2019.
Mercurio has given a very brief update on the new series, thanks to his newly-created Twitter account. In reply to a Tweet from Line Of Duty star Martin Compston welcoming him to the social media service, he confirmed that he’s “just started writing series 5”.
Here’s the Twitter exchange…
Cheers, Martin, just started writing series 5 …
