Mr Bean has become a huge YouTube hit, and won some prize or other

Who knew? Apparently, YouTube has something called a Diamond Play button, that it awards to channels that have 10 million subscribers or more. Presumably, this is reserved for generally young people who play computer games primarily, or very rich musicians.

But heck: what do you know, Mr Bean has gone and bagged one.

Furthermore, just to double down on that whole ‘young’ thing, it’s been revealed that Mr Bean is ‘the oldest UK creator’ to hit the 10 million subscriber mark. As the official announcement declares, this is ‘with content that was originally created nearly 30 years ago’.

We didn’t call it content back then, of course. They were known as ‘television programmes’. How times change.

Fewer than 100 YouTube channels around the planet have this seal of approval, and Rowan Atkinson’s Mr Bean thus stands side by side with Adele, Zoella and Ed Sheeran.

The most watched Mr Bean video on YouTube? That’d be this one. Treat yourself to a chortle at some analogue content…
