Captain Lorca (Jason Isaacs)

New Star Trek Discovery teaser shows big changes for episode 3

There’s a new preview for upcoming events on Star Trek Discovery – warning, contains spoilers!

As soon as people got a chance to see the two episode introduction of Star Trek Discovery, it became pretty obvious that they were a prequel to the events of the series ‘proper’. Now, a first in-context look at epsiode three has confirmed that we’ll finally get about the Discovery itself.

A new trailer from Netflix UK for said episode, entitled ‘Context Is For Kings’ gives us a good look at the eponymous ship, and the crew we’ll be travelling with for the next 13 episodes of the show at least. Not least among these is Jason Isaac’s Cpt. Lorca, who – either through choice or necessity – seems to be responsible for freeing Burnham from her life imprisonment in order to serve under him.

It would appear that, whatever his reasons for enlisting her services, the decision to free a seemingly infamous mutineer is not a popular one. It also appears that Burnham’s choices are something she will not lightly get over.

The clip also gives us good look at Rain Wilson’s antagonist, Harry Mudd, and reveals a hand-to-hand showdown between Burnham and Klingon zealot Voq among its many teasing flashes of the action to come. While the trailer is listed as a preview of series 1 ep 3, there seems to be a lot going on here. Thus, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this is more of a teaser for upcoming events in the series as a whole.

Whatever, it certainly hints that this set of characters may well not be kind of Star Fleet heroes we’re used to. Here is the trailer, then.
