It has been confirmed that Ben Aldridge will be back in the new season of Our Girl.

Five new episodes of BBC One’s army drama are currently filming in Africa, with Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan replacing former star Lacey Turner in the lead role as medic Corporal Georgie Lane.

A photo of Season 2’s cast at a recent script read-through has been posted on BBC One’s Instagram feed, featuring Ben Aldridge.

Aldridge played Captain James in the first season of Our Girl, which concluded in October 2014.

Season 2 will be set in a Kenyan refugee camp and is expected to air on BBC One later this year.

Our Girl creator Tony Grounds had previously hinted last year that Captain James would return, saying: “That’s the plan.”
