‘Outnumbered’ writers bring new comedy ‘Just Around The Corner’ to Channel 4

Airing as part of Channel 4’s Funny Fortnight, Just Around The Corner is “the story of a suburban family, the Pilches, who live in a flooded, warm and uncertain world where all the banks have disappeared, along with much of Britain’s coastline. The Pilch family encounter all the familiar dilemmas that have shaped family life through the ages, only this time those struggles are played out against the backdrop of a dog-eat-dog future.”

The cast includes James Fleet (The Vicar Of Dibley), James Bolam (New Tricks), Jennie Jacques (Desperate Romantics), Sanjeev Bhaskar (Goodness, Gracious Me) and Daisy Beaumont (Star Stories) and introduces Jamie Davis as the feral boy Bosch.

Hamilton and Jenkin commented: “Just Around The Corner is Mad Max meets The Good Life.”

Shane Allen, Head of Comedy, added: “Guy and Andy are the comedy gods who shaped much of Channel 4’s key output of the 80’s and 90’s and a great deal more British comedy since. This is their family sitcom take on a future Britain which is frankly knackered. Services are non-existent, the country is half under-water and everything is run by a corrupt megalomaniac. I’ve no idea where they get their ideas from.”

A fifth series of BBC One’s Outnumbered and a 40-minute Christmas special was confirmed last month.
